The Kumbha temperament
Fixed air under Saturn produces a mind that holds a position on principle. A Kumbha Moon is sociable without being dependent: warm at a slight distance, more comfortable with a cause or a group than with a small circle of intense attachments. The sign thinks in systems — how the thing works, who it excludes, what would happen if it were rebuilt.
The independence is the fixed part. Told to conform, a Kumbha Moon quietly does not, and the refusal is usually unannounced rather than dramatic. The difficulty is intimacy: the same distance that makes the sign fair and unshockable can leave the people closest to it wondering where they stand.
Ruled by Saturn
Saturn rules Kumbha, which is why the sign combines radical ideas with real patience — it is the reformer who is prepared to spend twenty years on it. Saturday is your weekday. Rahu's traditional association with Kumbha adds the appetite for the unconventional, the foreign and the technical.
No planet is exalted or debilitated in Kumbha. As with Simha opposite, the sign's readings depend more on the transit and on Saturn's own condition in your chart than on standing dignities.
The nakshatras inside Kumbha
Kumbha holds the last two quarters of Dhanishta, all of Shatabhisha, and the first three quarters of Purva Bhadrapada. Dhanishta, ruled by Mars with the Vasus as its deity, brings rhythm, wealth and the ability to work in an ensemble. Shatabhisha, ruled by Rahu with Varuna as its deity, is the hundred healers — the most private quarter of the sign, associated with medicine, research and a strong preference for solitude while working.
Purva Bhadrapada, ruled by Jupiter with Aja Ekapada as its deity, is the intense, austere part: conviction carried to an uncomfortable degree, and often an interest in what lies past the ordinary. A Shatabhisha Moon and a Dhanishta Moon are both Kumbha and would not describe themselves the same way at all.
Which days lift Kumbha, and which test it
The strong days for Kumbha are those where the transiting Moon reaches a supportive count from your rashi. The eleventh house is the natural house of gains and networks, and these days follow suit — ask the group, not the individual.
When the Moon falls in the fourth, eighth or twelfth from Kumbha, the distance the sign keeps starts to cost it something. The classical advice is rest and no large commitments; the specific Kumbha version is to say plainly that you need the space rather than simply taking it.
The whole scheme is Chandra Gochara: count from your own rashi to the rashi the Moon is in today, and the count decides the tone. This is the full table for Kumbha — the star rating above is built from it, adjusted for the paksha and for whether the weekday lord is friendly to Saturn.

Kumbha with other rashis
Kumbha shares Saturn with Makara and finds conversational ease with Mithuna and Tula. Simha, its opposite, is the classical attraction-and-friction axis. As always the eight kootas scored from both birth stars decide it, not the sign names.
The kundli matching page scores all eight kootas out of thirty-six from two birth dates, and flags the classical cancellations that a bare score hides.
